hip hop

Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture.

At the Dance Lab our styles include a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.

The purpose of hip hop dance is to gather an audience and to entertain a crowd of people. Hip hop is officially done on the streets and known as the most popular street dance.

The different styles offered at The Dance Lab in Hip hop are:

Hip hop incorporates old and new dance moves and styles like break dancing, popping, crumping and even traditional jazz moves. A large part of hip hop dance is creativity and improvisation and just letting the music move you. This is a great way to encourage creativity and expression through dance classes for children which is what we encourage at The Dance Lab.
